Tokyo Yakult Swallows closer Tony Barnette has re-signed for the 2015 season, the Central League club announced Thursday.
In an injury-shortened season, the 31-year-old Barnette, who was deactivated on Sept. 23 due to strained left oblique muscles, worked 33 games with a 1-2 record and 14 saves for the last-place Swallows. Next year will be the right-hander's sixth in Japan.
The Swallows also came to terms with 36-year-old right-hander Orlando Roman, who pitched in just 16 games last season, his third in Japan.
Barnette's deal is believed to be worth $1.55 million or roughly ¥180 million, while Roman's contract is estimated at $430,000.
Yakult has made an offer to reliever Chris Carpenter, but the right-handed reliever has yet to sign. Starter Chris Narveson was not extended an offer for 2015.
Outfielders Wladimir Balentien and Lastings Milledge are still under contract for 2015.
