Yokozuna Kakuryu raised the bar with an impregnable display of force against would-be challenger Terunofuji to remain undefeated in his bid for his second career Emperor's Cup at the Kyushu Grand Sumo Tournament on Tuesday.

Kakuryu leads at 10-0 with five days remaining at the 15-day meet, while rival and fellow yokozuna Hakuho improved to 9-1 with a whitewash of newly promoted Aoiyama (5-5) in the day's finale.

Kakuryu, who is seeking his first championship as a yokozuna, gave Terunofuji (4-6) no openings as he worked quickly to clinch both hands on the back of the mawashi before carrying his man out in a textbook frontal force-out at Fukuoka Kokusai Center.
