The New York Yankees do not expect to bring back Ichiro Suzuki for next season after signing free-agent outfielder Chris Young, general manager Brian Cashman said Monday.

"I think we're currently pretty well set with our outfield," Cashman said at the general managers' meetings. "We wanted a right-handed bat with power that doesn't seem to exist in the game anymore."

The 41-year-old Suzuki was traded to the Yankees from the Seattle Mariners in July 2012, and just finished his two-year contract. He batted a solid .284 in 359 at-bats.

Suzuki is 156 hits shy of a career 3,000 in the majors.

The 31-year-old Young signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees in late August and was promoted in September, hitting .282 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 23 games.

Cashman also said the team is still waiting to hear from right-hander Hiroku Kuroda, who has yet to announce if and where he will play next season.
