The Chicago Cubs announced they have extended left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada's contract for one year Monday.

According to the Cubs' official website, the deal is for $4 million with an additional $2 million in performance-based incentives.

The 33-year-old Wada, who will be in his fourth year in the majors in 2015, went 3-3 with a 3.25 ERA in 13 starts this season for the Cubs.

Wada started the year on a minor-league contract with the Cubs before making his major league debut in July. He never pitched in the majors in two years with the Baltimore Orioles after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012.

The former Fukuoka Softbank Hawks ace will return to Japan this month as part of an MLB team touring the country for eight exhibitions.

On Tuesday, organizers of the MLB tour starting Nov. 12 announced that Tokyo Yakult Swallows pitcher Yasuhiro Ogawa has pulled out because of an injury to his left abdominal muscle.
