Asian Games MVP Kosuke Hagino rewrote his own national record en route to winning the men's 200-meter individual medley at a short-course World Cup on Wednesday.

Hagino, who also triumphed in the 200 freestyle, improved his own mark in the 200 IM by 0.23 seconds to touch the wall in 1 minute, 51.27 seconds at Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center.

Daiya Seto placed second 1.28 seconds back, while Hiromasa Seto placed third in 1:55.02. Ryosuke Irie (1:55.22), who was fifth in the 200 backstroke, managed fourth. Hagino came home in 1:42.62 to win the 200 freestyle.

Britain's Francesca Halsall was victorious in the women's 100 freestyle in 51.96, with Emma McKeon of Australia coming second in 52.21. Miki Uchida timed 52.69 for third.

Daniel Gyurta of Hungary emerged as the winner in the men's 100 breaststroke in 57.23. Yasuhiro Koseki was the runner-up, finishing 0.01 back.

Shinri Shioura won the men's 50 freestyle in 21.38.
