The Seibu Lions announced the signing of Taiwanese right-hander Kuo Chun-lin to a one-year contract Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Kuo helped Taiwan to a silver medal at last month's Asian Games and pitched well against Japan in an exhibition in November. His deal is worth ¥12 million plus incentives and he also received a ¥52 million signing bonus.

"I've worked hard so I can play Japanese baseball, which is my favorite," Kuo said. "I'm thrilled and excited."

Seibu failed to make the postseason this year, finishing fifth in the Pacific League.
