The J. League announced Friday it is fining first-division side Yokohama F. Marinos ¥5 million over an incident of racist behavior by one of the team's supporters at a game on Aug. 23.

The teenage fan, subsequently banned indefinitely by Marinos, was caught waving a banana at Kawasaki Frontale's Brazilian striker Renato during the first half of Saturday's 2-0 victory over Frontale at Yokohama's Mitsuzawa Stadium.

The latest racist incident for the J. League comes just five months after it forced Urawa Reds to hold a game behind closed doors as a penalty for the displaying of a racist banner by supporters.
