New York Mets right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka had a another strong rehab outing on Saturday, tossing six innings of one-run ball in a game for the Double-A Binghamton Mets.
Matsuzaka, on the DL with right elbow inflammation, limited the Reading Phillies to one run and three hits and did not issue a walk. The former Boston Red Sox ace threw 69 pitches in his second rehab start. He struck out three batters.
Matsuzaka threw three scoreless innings in his first rehab start in Single-A St. Lucie's game earlier in the week against Bradenton.
Matsuzaka went on the DL on July 26 after complaining of discomfort in his elbow after pitching two innings in relief in a game against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 24.
He threw off the mound in a bullpen practice on Aug. 4 for the first time since going on the DL.
This season, Matsuzaka has a 3-3 record with one save and a 3.87 ERA in 28 appearances, including nine starts.
