Four-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist Kohei Uchimura claimed his sixth consecutive men’s all-around title at the NHK Cup on Sunday.
Uchimura was nearly flawless as he collected 181.050 points in the tournament at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, which doubles as a qualifier for the gymnastics world championships.
Uchimura had already qualified for the world championships but Shogo Nonomura and Ryohei Kato, who placed second and third respectively, secured berths at the Oct. 3-12 worlds in Nanning, China.
Gymnasts qualified for the NHK Cup at the national championships last month. Half of their scores from the national championships carried over to Sunday’s event.
National champion Natsumi Sasada won the women’s all-around title on Saturday.
