Hiroshima Carp right-hander Kenta Maeda, who has had a bout with elbow stiffness, is slated to start a game on Sunday, manager Kenjiro Nomura revealed on Thursday.

That day, the Carp will be at Yokohama Stadium to play the Yokohama BayStars. Maeda, who is 2-0 this season with a 0.95 ERA in three starts, participated in long toss on Thursday for the second straight day.

"I was able to put my strength into my throws," Maeda said. "Although ultimately the decision will be up to me, I think I'll be able to do it."

Maeda left his last start on April 12 after five innings and was diagnosed with inflammation in his right triceps.
