Infielder Munenori Kawasaki was called up by the Toronto Blue Jays from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.
Kawasaki replaces second baseman Maicer Izturis, who was placed on the disabled list with a sprained left knee.
Kawasaki will join the team in Minnesota for the three-game series against the Twins starting Tuesday.
As of Sunday, Kawasaki was hitting .240 in eight games with Buffalo.
