Abraham Kiplimo of Uganda won the Beppu-Oita Marathon, with Masato Imai making a podium finish in second place on Sunday.

Kiplimo crossed the tape at Oita municipal athletics field in a career-best time of 2 hours, 9 minutes, 23 seconds.

Imai, who was known as the "God of the Mountain" during his days when he ran the Tokyo-Hakone ekiden with Juntendo University, was just seven seconds back. Kenichi Shiraishi placed third in 2:10:36.
