Sara Takanashi took second in Sunday's women's ski jumping World Cup competition.

Takahashi, the overall World Cup leader, had jumps of 101.5 and 98.5 meters for a score of 246.8 points that left her runnerup to 30-year-old Austrian Daniela Iraschko for the second straight day. Iraschko was the 2011 world champion.

Takanashi's first jump was a beauty, but she mistimed her takeoff on her second jump. Yet, it was an improvement over the previous day, when she had issues with both jumps.

"I think I'm getting a lot better with each day," said Takanashi, who is the favorite to win gold next month when women's ski jumping makes its Olympic debut at the Sochi Games.

Fellow Olympians Yuki Ito and Yurina Yamada also took part, with Ito finishing fourth and Yamada failing to advance to the second jump.
