LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA – Tomo Ohka, who last pitched in Major League Baseball in 2009, has agreed to a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The 37-year-old right-hander went 51-68 for Boston (1999-01), Montreal (2001-04), Washington (2005), Milwaukee (2005-06), Toronto (2007) and Cleveland (2009).
Ohka played for the Yokohama BayStars (1995-98 and 2010-11) and Toyama Thunderbirds of the Shinetsu Baseball Challenge League (2013).
Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said on Thursday that Ohka likely would start the season at Double-A New Hampshire.
While pitching for Toyama, Ohka developed a knuckleball. The Blue Jays already have another knuckleballer on their 40-man roster, former NL Cy Young Award-winner R.A. Dickey.
