Kameda preps for Korea title bout

Kyodo

WBA bantamweight champion Koki Kameda will be out to prove he can still pack a punch when he takes on South Korean challenger Song Jung-oh in a world title bout on Nov. 19 in Jeju, South Korea.

Koki, the eldest of the three Kameda brothers, is 31-1, including 17 KOs, but has failed to knock out his opponent in his last four bouts — something his critics point to as a cause for concern.

“I want to return to Japan having fought in a fight with a lasting impact,” Kameda said on Tuesday at a sparring session ahead of his eighth title defense in the 53.5-kg weight class.
