MILAN, ITALY – J. League first-division side FC Tokyo has hired Italian Massimo Ficcadenti to coach the club for next season, informed sources said Sunday.
The 45-year-old former Cesena coach managed former Tokyo defender Yuto Nagatomo in Serie A a couple of years ago. Tokyo announced earlier this week that current manager Ranko Popovic will not be extended for 2014.
Tokyo is currently sixth in the league with 48 points, 11 behind league-leading Yokohama F. Marinos with four games remaining in the season.
