Kashiwa manager Nelsinho will return for the 2014 J. League season, Reysol said on Thursday.

The 53-year-old Brazilian has been in charge of the Chiba club since 2009. This season, Kashiwa is 11th in the league with six games left but has reached the Nabisco Cup final and the round of 16 in the Emperor's Cup.

Thursday's news comes as somewhat of a surprise, since Nelsinho almost quit on the team during the summer. Following an Aug. 31 game against Kashima Antlers, he announced his resignation out of the blue and had to be talked out of leaving.

Victory over Urawa Reds in the league cup final on Nov. 2 would give Nelsinho's side a sweep of every domestic title available, having already won the J1 and J2 championships, the Emperor's Cup and the Super Cup.
