Kimiko Date-Krumm missed out on a semifinal berth at the Korea Open after losing to Francesca Schiavone on Friday.

Date-Krumm allowed her Italian opponent to come from behind to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in just over two hours. Date-Krumm, who knocked out second seed Maria Kirilenko in the previous round, has never beaten Schiavone in four career meetings.
