YOKOHAMA – Yoshihito Fujita bagged a second-half hat-trick as J. League first division leaders Yokohama F. Marinos cruised past Vanraure Hachinohe 5-1 in the Emperor’s Cup second round on Wednesday.
Shingo Hyodo and Manabu Saito also struck for Marinos in the rout of the Tohoku corporate league outfit at Mitsuzawa Stadium. Marinos host Cerezo Osaka in J. League action this weekend.
Marinos’ J1 rivals Urawa Reds and Kawasaki Frontale also rolled into the third round.
Reds, who are a point behind Marinos in the J. League table, edged Tochigi Uva of the Japan Football League 2-1 before home fans while Frontale defeated Kochi University 3-1 behind Alan Pinheiro’s brace.
