J.League first-division side Kashiwa Reysol announced Thursday that manager Nelsinho rejoined the team after withdrawing his resignation.
“We met on Tuesday, and he said he wanted to give it another try and asked for the chance to do so,” team director Tatsuma Yoshida said. “We interpreted this as proof of his self-reflection and have decided he is to come back.”
On Aug. 31, the Brazilian abruptly announced his resignation following a 3-1 league defeat to Kashima Antlers and had not shown up for training since Sunday.
With head coach Masami Ihara running the show, Reysol defeated Tsukuba University 4-2 on Wednesday in the second round of the Emperor’s Cup. Nelsinho will once again be holding the reins on Saturday for the first leg of Kashiwa’s Nabisco Cup semifinal against J.League leaders Yokohama F. Marinos.
