Japan's Hideki Matsuyama could only manage a 1-over-par 71 on Saturday but remained within six shots of the lead going into the final round of the Wyndham Championship.

Matsuyama had two birdies and three bogeys at the rain-swept par-70 Sedgefield Country Club and reached 4-under 206, six strokes behind American co-leaders Patrick Reed (71) and John Huh (70).

"I am happy that I was able to limit the damage to 1 over but I am three-putting for bogeys and have to practice," said Matsuyama.

"Even though it rained it didn't really slow the greens down and that was a bit puzzling. I will try and pick up birdies right from the start (on Sunday) and try and put myself in title contention," he said.
