KASAOKA, OKAYAMA PREF. – Australia’s Brendan Jones took his overnight lead and ran with it on Sunday, when he shot a 4-under-par 68 to seal a three-stroke victory at the Mizuno Open.
The 38-year-old Jones scored one eagle and five birdies against three bogeys at Setonaikai Golf Club to finish at 19-under-par 269 and earn his 13th victory on the Japan tour. Jones collected ¥22 million for his first win of the season and earned a spot in the field for the British Open.
South Korea’s Kim Kyung-tae was second after his 3-under-par round saw him finish at 16-under for the week. Makoto Inoue was three strokes back in third after a final-round 68.
Tetsuji Hiratsuka (68) and Shingo Katayama (72) tied for fourth at 11-under.
