BARCELONA – Japan ace Kei Nishikori cruised past Spaniard Guillermo Olaso on Tuesday in the second round of the Barcelona Open.
Nishikori, the sixth seed, enjoyed a first-round bye before taking apart his 309th-ranked opponent 6-1, 6-3. Nishikori fired three aces and won all four of his break points.
“Even without playing my best, I played a winning game,” Nishikori said. “I’m getting used to competing on clay. This is a confidence builder.”
