KLINGENTHAL, GERMANY – Ski jumper Taku Takeuchi claimed a personal World Cup best with his second-place finish at a meet in Germany on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Takeuchi, whose only previous podium finish came at Innsbruck in January 2012, landed jumps of 133.5 and 130.5 meters to score 254.6 points.
Nineteen-year-old Jaka Hvala of Slovenia took his first World Cup victory with a final score of 259.5.
Overall World Cup standings leader Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria settled for third at 253.1 points.
Reruhi Shimizu tied for 24th and Daiki Ito finished in 26th place.
