Manchester United announced Tuesday the club will play a friendly against J. League side Yokohama F. Marinos this summer, on its first tour through Japan in six years.

Featuring Japanese international Shinji Kagawa, Alex Ferguson's side will face Marinos at Nissan Stadium on July 23. The Red Devils last came to Japan in 2008 for the Club World Cup, which it won over then-South American champions Liga de Quito.

The Marinos game will be United's first friendly since July 2007, when it played Urawa Reds. Former goalkeeper and club ambassador Peter Schmeichel attended the news conference for the announcement, saying Ferguson will bring a full squad for the tour.

"Manchester United has great memories of playing in Japan and our game against the Yokohama F. Marinos will play an important part of our preseason preparations," United's chief executive David Gill said in a statement.
