J. League first division side Kawasaki Frontale will acquire former Japan striker Yoshito Okubo from relegated Vissel Kobe for next season, Kyodo News learned Monday from several sources familiar with the transfer.

Okubo, 30, has agreed to join the club and a formal announcement is expected in the coming days.

The Fukuoka native played for Cerezo Osaka from 2001 to 2006, where he was loaned out to Spain's Mallorca from 2005 to 2006. Okubo transferred to VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga for just six months in 2009 before making his appearance in the 2010 World Cup for Japan.

He has 89 career goals in 241 matches in the first division. This season, Okubo scored four goals in 26 games.

In other news, Vissel defender Masahiko Inoha, 27, is reportedly close to a deal to move to Jubilo Iwata.
