The Chicago Cubs have announced on their Twitter feed that they have reached an agreement with free agent reliever Kyuji Fujikawa.

Various sources, including The Associated Press, have reported that the contract is a two-year deal for the Hanshin Tigers right-hander worth $9.5 million, including a signing bonus. The team has announced it will hold a news conference on Friday.

The 32-year-old Fujikawa is 42-25 in his career with 220 saves and a 1.77 ERA. He was 2-2 with 24 saves in 2012, when he was twice deactivated with knee and thigh troubles. Fujikawa is fifth in career saves in Japan.
