Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel expressed interest Wednesday at MLB's winter meetings in signing free agent outfielder Ichiro Suzuki.

It has been reported that the Phillies, who are looking for both a center fielder and a corner outfielder, have spoken with Ichiro's camp.

Manuel, who played in Japan for the Yakult Swallows and Kintetsu Buffaloes, said he thought Suzuki was still a good player who could contribute to the team and that the Phillies staff had discussed him.
