J.League first-division club Nagoya Grampus announced Saturday that Australia striker Josh Kennedy is to have surgery on his lower back and will be out for six weeks.

The 30-year-old World Cup veteran will have surgery on Monday so that a problem with a disk in his lower back can be treated.

Kennedy last played on Sept. 29, when he was taken off at the half in a 5-0 away loss at Albirex Niigata. He has five goals in 18 games this season, and has scored 47 goals in 95 career league games with Grampus.
