The Hiroshima Carp's first-round draft pick, outfielder Hiroki Takahashi, signed a provisional contract with the Central League club on Sunday.
The 18-year-old Takahashi, out of Kyoto's Ryukoku University Heian High School, agreed to a signing bonus of ¥75 million and a base salary of ¥7 million.
"It hasn't dawned on me yet," said Takahashi. "I'll work hard in practice to get promoted to the top team," he said.
