Dimitar Berbatov has said it would be “better for everyone” if he left Manchester United even though he wants to stay at the English Premier League giant.

The striker’s four-year stay at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end after he managed just 12 league appearances last term, scoring seven goals.

A year earlier he scored 20 goals, tying him with Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez for the most in the Premier League.

“The truth is, I love this club, but I am not going to be useful to anyone if I am not playing,” said the 31-year-old. “And I want to play, I want to help.

“But for unknown reasons it’s not going to happen, or my chances will be limited, so it’s better for everyone if we say goodbye.”
