FUKUOKA – Yoshikazu Fujita became the youngest player ever to win a cap for Japan and scored six tries as the four-time champions routed the United Arab Emirates 106-3 at the Asian Five Nations on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Fujita started in Japan’s first home game under new head coach Eddie Jones at Level-5 Stadium. The Brave Blossoms improved their win-loss record to 2-0 for the tournament.
Fujita eclipsed the previous youngest record held by Tongan-born Christian Loamanu, who made his Japan debut at 18 years, 11 months, by about three months.
In its first match on April 28, Japan trounced Kazakhstan 87-0 in Almaty.
