RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIFORNIA – Ai Miyazato slid 23 places down the leaderboard with a 2-over 74 and Momoko Ueda shot a disastrous 80 to drop out of contention in the third round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship on Saturday.
Miyazato found herself in a tie for 45th at 1 over for the tournament, while Ueda and Yukari Baba (72), the other Japanese player in the weekend field, were tied for 67th at 4 over.
Ueda started the day tied for eighth and four shots behind leader Yani Tseng, but the 2007 Japan LPGA money list champion had eight bogeys without a single birdie.
“I don’t know what to say,” Ueda said. “Nothing went well. I didn’t make any putts. I couldn’t manage the course properly, and I gave in to my mental weakness. (In the final round) I’ll try to learn something to contend for this major title next year.”
