FUKUROI, SHIZUOKA PREF. – Ritsuko Ryu birdied three of the last four holes for a 4-under 68 and a two-shot victory at the Yamaha Ladies Open on Sunday.
Ryu claimed her second career Japan LPGA title with a 3-under 141 total in the event reduced to 36 holes because of rain Saturday at Katsuragi Golf Club.
The 24-year-old from Kumamoto Prefecture began the final round tied for seventh and four strokes behind leader Mayu Hattori.
“It was very windy out there, but I managed to play my best golf,” Ryu said. “To win this tournament was my goal for the month of March. It’s still early in the season. I just want to continue playing aggressively.”
