INNSBRUCK, AUSTRIA – Ski jumper Taku Takeuchi had his first career World Cup podium finish in taking third place in the third leg of the Four Hills trophy on Wednesday.
Takeuchi, who finished fourth in Sunday’s leg at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, landed jumps of 131.5 and 124 meters to earn 246.7 points, finishing behind Austrians Andreas Kofler and Gregor Schlierenzauer.
Kofler scored 252.8 and recorded his fifth win of the season, while Schlierenzauer had 247.6 for second place.
“I was late with my timing on the second jump so this is a miracle,” said Takeuchi. “It felt so good being on the medals podium and I will try hard so I can become a regular on the podium.”
Elsewhere for Japan, Yuta Watase was 25th, while Daiki Ito, third at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, was sixth after his first jump, but wound up in 27th.
