SENDAI – Mamoru Kishida pitched out of a no-out, bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Orix Buffaloes played out a 4-4 tie with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles on Thursday to extend their unbeaten streak to 10 games.
After Rakuten loaded the bases with a pair of singles and Kishida’s fielding error, the Orix closer got Kazuo Matsui to pop out and struck out Kensuke Uchimura and Akinori Iwamura to end the game at Kleenex Stadium.
The Buffaloes had won the previous nine games for their longest winning streak in 14 years.
Orix jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Lee Seung Yeop followed a two-run double by Aarom Baldiris with an RBI single.
Rakuten stormed back with four runs in the second, but backup catcher Hikaru Ito delivered a tying single in the fifth for Orix.
Takahiro Okada went 3-for-5 for the Buffaloes, who outhit the Eagles 11-10.

At Seibu Dome, rookie Shogo Akiyama broke a fourth-inning tie with a two-run homer, his first career long ball, leading Seibu past Chiba Lotte.
Takeya Nakamura hit his baseball-leading 38th homer with two men on in the third to tie the game at 4-4. Yusei Kikuchi (4-1) allowed four runs, three earned, in seven innings for Seibu and Atsushi Kobayashi (1-4) took the loss.

At Nagoya Dome, Yomiuri closer Yuya Kobo struck out the final two Chunichi batters with the potential winning run on second in the bottom of the 12th inning as the two clubs played out a tie.
Rookie Hirokazu Sawamura held Chunichi to two hits over 10 innings. Enyelbert Soto was equally impressive, allowing just three hits in 8⅓ innings.
Tigers 9, Carp 3
At Kyocera Dome, Kentaro Sekimoto hit a three-run homer to cap a seven-run third inning as Hanshin completed a three-game sweep of Hiroshima.
Atsushi Nomi (8-8) allowed three runs and struck out eight in seven innings. Jumpei Shinoda (5-7) lasted only four innings.

Uribe out for season
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe had surgery Wednesday to repair a sports hernia and will be out for the rest of the season.
The team says Uribe had the surgery in Los Angeles and he will begin rehabilitation within two weeks. Recovery is expected to take six to eight weeks.
