NISHINOMIYA, HYOGO PREF. – Terrmel Sledge stole the show with three home runs and eight RBIs in a 5-for-5 outing, powering the Yokohama BayStars to a 9-5 victory over the Hanshin Tigers on Saturday.
Sledge led off the third with a shot to center to open the scoring and hit a grand slam to overturn a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 lead in the seventh. He made his encore performance in the eighth with a three-run blast -his 17th homer of the season.
Craig Brazell hit a pair of homers and went 3-for-4 for the Tigers.

At Hiroshima’s Mazda Stadium, Jumpei Shinoda threw eight shutout innings and Yoshihiro Maru drove in a pair of runs as Hiroshima blanked Chunichi.
Shinoda (4-3) dug himself in and out of trouble, yielding six hits, striking out four with one walk. Dennis Sarfate pitched the ninth to earn his 25th save.

At Fukuoka’s Yahoo Dome, Toshiya Sugiuchi won a pitching duel with Nippon Ham’s Yu Darvish, thanks in part to Hiroki Kokubo, who drove in all three runs to lead PL-leader Fukuoka Softbank to its third consecutive win.
Darvish (13-3), who struck out 11, saw his personal winning streak end at five games. Kokubo had a tiebreaking two-run single in the eighth. Sugiuchi (6-3) fanned 12 over the distance.

At Saitama’s Seibu Dome, Takeya Nakamura hit his Japanese-baseball leading 28th home run to spark the offense and Fumiya Nishiguchi (4-6) went five scoreless innings on one-hit ball to lift Seibu over Orix.
Nakamura hit a two-run blast off Shinya Nakayama (2-7) for a 2-0 lead in the first and the Lions offense chipped away, featuring Masato Kumashiro’s RBI single in the fourth and a four-run fifth.

At Chiba’s QVC Marine Field, Shunsuke Watanabe (5-5) painted the corners over seven scoreless innings and Chiba Lotte’s first five in the order drove in a run apiece, leading to a win over Tohoku Rakuten.
After the Marines scored on an error in the first, Jose Castillo and Toshiaki Imae added back-to-back RBI single in the third before the offense added three runs on four hits in the next frame.
