JFA picks 23 players for training camp

The Japan Football Association on Thursday called up 23 players for Alberto Zaccheroni’s training camp getting under way next month in Sapporo.

Ventforet Kofu striker Mike Havenaar was among eight players, along with Urawa Reds midfielder Genki Haraguchi, who were asked to participate for the first time in the Aug. 1-3 camp.

No overseas players have been called up.

Nagoya Grampus midfielder Kensuke Nagai, who is aiming to compete at next year’s London Olympics, is among eight players taking part from the Under-22 squad.
