SUSONO, SHIZUOKA PREF. – Chie Arimura held onto her lead from the opening round to capture her first title of the season after carding a 67 at the Stanley Ladies on Sunday.
The 23-year-old blazed through the front nine with six birdies before making a pair of bogeys either side of a birdie on the 15th hole at Tomei Country Club for a three-shot win over Sakura Yokomine.
Arimura, who sparkled with a hole-in-one and an albatross on the opening day, won her eighth career title with a 15-under total of 201 and pocketed ¥16.2 million in prize money.
“I played aggressively to try and improve my score so I’m pleased,” said Arimura, whose victory was her first since beating South Korea’s Park In Bee in a playoff at the Studio Alice Ladies Open in April last year.
“It has been a long 15 months. I have no plans to play overseas anymore (this year) and I can head into the second half of the domestic season in a relaxed frame of mind.”
