Former world champion Tomoko Fukumi won the women's 48-kg gold medal while Aiko Sato prevailed in the 57-kg class at the Moscow Grand Slam on Saturday.

Fukumi, who was denied consecutive world gold medals last September by Haruna Asami, toppled Russia's Nataliya Kondratyeva while Sato beat Frenchwoman Automne Pavia.

Yuka Nishida finished runnerup to Mongolia's Bundmaa Munkhbaatar in the women's 52-kg.

In the men's competition, reigning 66-kg world champion Jumpei Morishita lost his first bout in the second round against Ulugbek Norkobilov of Uzbekistan. Hirofumi Yamamoto was third in the 60-kg division.
