ONO, HYOGO PREF. – Hiroo Kawai claimed a long-awaited first title of his career Sunday with a two-shot victory over South Korea’s Bae Sang Moon at the Japan PGA Championship.
The 39-year-old Kawai shot a 3-under 68 to finish at 9-under 275 at Onotoyo Golf Club, earning 30 million in prize money and a five-year exemption on the tour.
Bae fell short with a 70 after starting the day tied for the lead with Kawai.
Ryo Ishikawa finished out of the top 10 for the third consecutive event, tying for 12th at 2 over after a 70.
