Women’s golf tour to hold donation drive

Kyodo News

The Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association of Japan plans to send a total of 124 players and officials to five major cities to collect donations on Sunday for the victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Donations will be accepted for two hours from 1 p.m. in Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, and the participants include association chief Hiromi Kobayashi, 2010 money leader Ahn Sun Ju and Sakura Yokomine, the LPGA announced Thursday.

The women’s tour has canceled four tournaments in a row in the aftermath of the devastating quake in northeastern Japan. Only the season-opening March 4-6 Daikin Orchid Ladies has been played this year.
