Japan beats S. Korea in Fed Cup

BANGKOK (Kyodo) Junri Namigata and Ayumi Morita both won their singles matches as Japan beat South Korea 3-0 to make it two wins out of two in Fed Cup Asia-Oceania Group 1 in Thailand on Thursday.

Namigata overpowered Hong Hyun Hui 6-2, 6-4 before Morita also scored a straight-sets win, beating Kim Na Ri 7-5, 6-1 at National Tennis Centre.

Rika Fujiwara and Namigata then teamed up to see off Hong and Kim So Jung 7-5, 6-4 in the doubles.

Victory came on the back of a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Kazakhstan on Wednesday. In Thursday’s other Pool B action Kazakhstan was a 3-0 winner over Taiwan.
