Lucas to leave Gamba after season

OSAKA (Kyodo) Brazilian striker Lucas is to leave Gamba Osaka when his current deal expires at the end of this season, the J. League first-division club said Wednesday.

The 31-year-old forward joined Gamba from FC Tokyo in 2008 and played a pivotal role in Gamba’s two-leg victory over Australia’s Adelaide United the same year in the Asian Champions League final.

Lucas, who hit three goals in Gamba’s 5-0 aggregate 2008 ACL win, has scored 68 times in 198 appearances in the J. League top flight.
