Japan routs Russia in rugby test

Kyodo News

Japan ran in 11 tries en route to a 75-3 demolition of fellow 2011 World Cup qualifiers Russia in a test match in Tokyo on Saturday.

The Brave Blossoms took a 35-3 halftime lead and substitute Yuta Imamura touched down as the home side continued to pile up the points after break. Fullback Atsushi Tanabe scored 10 goals on his international debut at Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground.

Japan, which faded in the second half and went down 13-10 to Samoa here last week, improved its record against Russia to 3-1.
