Star jockey Yutaka Take, who was injured when he was tossed from his horse during a Grade Three race in late March, will make his comeback this weekend after nearly four months on the sidelines.
As announced by the Japan Racing Association on Thursday, Take is scheduled to appear in two races, including the Kokura Kinen Grade Three race aboard Smart Gear on Sunday.
Take, who has won at least one Grade One title every year for the last 22 years, broke his left collar bone when he was thrown forward when The Taiki fell in the final stretch of the Mainichi Cup at Hanshin Racecourse on March 27.
“I am happy to finally be back after all this time,” Take said. “I want to try to get rid of my apprehension as I take to the races.”
