SUSONO, Shizuoka Pref. (Kyodo) South Korean rookie Ahn Sun Ju picked up her second win of the season Sunday, defeating countrywoman Lee Ji Hee with a birdie on the second playoff hole at the Stanley Ladies.
The 22-year-old earned ¥16.2 million and moved atop the 2010 Japan LPGA money list. Ahn’s first victory since the season-opening Daikin Orchid Ladies marked the 100th for South Korea on the Japanese tour.
Ahn made a 20-foot birdie putt from the fringe of the green on the second extra hole before Lee’s putt rolled past the right side of the hole at Tomei Country Club.
“It was a tight contest, so I got more nervous than in the season opener (that she won by five strokes),” Ahn said. “In my country, there has been talk of our 100th victory in Japan, so this win is special for me.”
