KOBE – Yukari Baba shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Suntory Ladies Open.
Baba, a two-time winner on the Japan LPGA Tour, had two birdies without a bogey to get to 4-under 212 at Rokko Kokusai Golf Club.
The diminutive 27-year-old birdied the par-5 fifth hole and putted in from the fringe of the green on the par-4 16th for another birdie.
Akane Iijima sat alone in second after a 72.
Ayako Uehara had a 70 and is three shots off the lead in a tie for third with Lim Eun A and Mayu Hattori, who shot 72s.
Defending champion Shinobu Moromizato carded a 74 to fall five behind.
