KASAMA, Ibaraki Pref. – Katsumasa Miyamoto shot a bogey-free 4-under 67 to extend his lead to four strokes in the second round of the Japan Golf Tour Championship on Friday.
Miyamoto birdied all three par-5 holes on his way to a 6-under 136 total in the second major of the year at Shishido Hills Country Club.
Ryo Ishikawa posted his second straight 70 to share second with Daisuke Maruyama, who shot a 68.
The 18-year-old phenom overcame a double bogey on the opening hole with three birdies in a four-hole stretch from the third.
Hiroshi Iwata and Shigeki Maruyama were six shots off the lead in a tie for fourth after rounds of 70 and 71, respectively.
Yuta Ikeda barely made the cut by following his first-round 76 with a 75.
Arimura grabs lead
MIYOTA , Nagano Pref. (Kyodo) Chie Arimura carded a flawless 7-under 65 to take a two-shot lead after the opening round of the Resort Trust Ladies on Friday.
Arimura, winner of the Studio Alice Ladies Open in April, had five birdies on the front nine before making a birdie-birdie finish at Grandee Karuizawa Golf Club.
South Korean Lee Na Ri, Hiromi Takesue and Midori Yoneyama shot bogey-free 67s to share second with three other players.
Rui Kitada eagled her first hole en route to a 68 that left her in a three-way tie for eighth.
Two-time defending champion Jeon Mi Jeong, Sakura Yokomine and Shinobu Moromizato shot 72s, while Park In Bee had a 73.
