Defending champion Japan made it two wins out of two with an emphatic 60-5 victory over Arabian Gulf in the Asian Five Nations rugby tournament on Saturday.
Alisi Tupuailei’s 15th-minute try opened the scoring at Prince Chichibu Memorial Ground and tries from Takashi Kikutani, James Arlidge and Kosuke Endo helped Japan stretch its lead to 26-0 at the break.
Japan fielded nine changes to the team that started in last week’s opening victory over South Korea and Ryo Kanazawa got on the scoresheet on his debut as the Brave Blossoms went on to add six more tries in the second half. Arabian Gulf dropped to 1-2.
Kazakhstan, Japan’s next opponents here on May 15, and Hong Kong are also competing in the round-robin tournament.
